Letterboxing: A Crash Course in Treasure Hunting

May 29, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Join us for a training on all things Letterboxing.

About this event

What is Letterboxing? Is like treasure hunting and stamp collecting all wrapped up in one. There are small boxes/containers hidden in various locations around the world, so it can be done anywhere. There are many around Colorado, and Arapahoe/Douglas Counties. Come learn about Letterboxing from a pro, at the end of the training each participant will have a chance to find their very first letterbox with The Arc ADventures and learn how to read and interpret clues! On Saturday, May 29, 2021 we will be providing the necessary equipment (a stamp, ink pad, and logbook) and a training on how to enjoy this perfect summer time hobby!

Some basics: Each box has a logbook that finders can log into (using their stamp) and a unique stamp that the finder can stamp into their own personal logbook as a record of all the letterboxes they’ve found.

Clue Examples:

  • The path will fork. Stay to the right. It will then take a 90 degree turn and head up hill.
  • Pass the huge tree to your left. The trail starts to go downhill. Keep going! You will come across a bird/bat house. Between the house and large downed tree is a bush.
  • Head North along the trail until you see a row of boulders lining the right (East) side of the path. Look for a suspicious guardian rock between two boulders.

This event holds the possibility of future events being held to hunt for letterboxes as a group.
