Parent/Caregiver Zoom Support Group – Spanish Speaking Families #2

Join us for our ongoing “Zoom Support Groups” on Tuesday, Aug 18, 2020 at 7 PM. Our Adult Advocate, Aida Abril, will be on hand to facilitate a discussion about concerns and successes with Spanish speaking families in our community. Please join us as we support each other with tips and strategies for children and adults with I/DD. We know there are a lot of rumors out there. We want to know what you are hearing. Feel free to just listen in on the conversation. The intent is to reduce isolation, even though we are not able to physically be together, we are not alone in getting through this crisis.

Prior to joining The Arc Arapahoe & Douglas Counties, Aida Abril was a police cadet in New York City where she worked in the Police Academy Training Archives, Major Club Unit, and Special Victims Child Abuse Squad. Aida helped detectives translate interviews and interrogations. She was promoted to police officer after completing her undergraduate degree. As a police officer, she worked in low income communities where she attended local institutions and assisted residents with developmental disabilities. She also trained incoming police officers on how to properly handle an emergency or situation involving an individual with a disability.
