On Saturday, September 23rd, self-advocates from The Arc ADventures in Leadership converged on the Koelbel Library to learn about and discuss voting rights!
First we jumped online and researched pros and cons of Trump and all of the Democratic candidates. Then, we watched a video on the history of the Voting Rights Act.
And we finished with a wonderful discussion about why to vote and about how to make up your mind. It was a perfect example of how respectful and productive political conversations can be.
We didn’t all see things the same, but we shared our ideas and debate points with knowledge as the goal. We have quite a group of self-advocates on our hands and the gang on Saturday showed that the right to vote is in good hands!
