The Two Way Street at The Happy Dog Ranch

by Jonah Berger

On May 23rd, the gang from The Two-Way Street Project ventured out again to discover new experiences and to help our community. This round, we found ourselves at The Happy Dog Ranch in Highlands Ranch. This beautiful ranch provides a home for farm animals in need of healing. And offers programming to community members to get a taste of nature and to connect with the animals.

We all put on our mud boots and braved the rain to pitch in and help out owner and new friend Bernadette Spillane. We hung out with the llamas, alpacas, pigs, goats, sheep, dogs, chickens, and horses.

Yes, farm work is muddy, smelly, challenging, and wonderful. There is real connection to be found by spending a day with animals, and the benefits between our gang and the Happy Dog residents were certainly Two-Way!
