Imagine if you will, going to your closet in the morning, to choose the clothes you’re going to wear for the day. You have many options. You have to make choices based on the agenda items of your day. You choose clothes that will make you feel good and confident. And you do all of this without seeing it as a privilege.

Now imagine going to your closet in the morning, with all of those needs and expectations from your day, and not seeing any clothes to pick from. During the month of June, our amazing self advocates from The Two Way Street Project ventured out into the community once again to help an amazing nonprofit called Clothes to Kids of Denver. This unbelievable organization collects children’s clothing donations from the community and  companies to distribute to families in need in the Denver metro area.

This amazing program is entering it’s 10th year. Last year they served 10,000 shoppers. Every child in need is allowed to come twice a year to create an entire wardrobe of 21 items. This year, they will process their one millionth item of clothing.

Our gang went right to work! Touring the facility, hearing all about Clothes to Kids of Denver’s mission, and then processing clothing donations. This included hanging up items, replenishing socks, and providing support to the staff at the facility.
